The Challenge: Maya Wiley’s phone to reduce NYPD funding, even as she benefits from private protection.
Amazing mayoral candidate Maya Wiley declared that, if elected mayor, she will defund the NYPD by a staggering $1 billion (“Not Maya difficulty!” June 8).
On the other hand, this candidate has neglected to say that she life in a posh Brooklyn community that is patrolled and protected by a private safety agency.
Wiley needs to decrease the manpower of people who are there to safeguard you and me, but she considers herself far too elite for the everyday police safety we depend on.
Leave it to the No. #1 hypocritical phony, Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, to back Wiley and her ridiculous liberal agenda.
I say, forget about Wiley. New Yorkers should have a heck of a whole lot greater than this.
Wow, did I just have my eyes opened: A politician, in this situation a person working for mayor, is a hypocrite. Fairly a revelation.
Wiley has non-public employed police safety although campaigning for defunding the police for the relaxation of us. She claimed her companion paid out for it.
When public security and the police is the No. 1 difficulty, there are multitudes of these other challenges that will require robust leadership.
Let us hear a true chief move up and communicate about what we mere mortals are conversing about to our neighbors, our kids and the persons who care. The politicians’ silence is deafening.
The Post’s include suggests it all: “Not Maya dilemma.”
This occurs all the time — our fantastic politicians say 1 matter, like “defund the police,” in the meantime they reside under a blanket of security.
How can you defund the police when crime is so rampant? How several more youthful harmless small children will be killed, just since you are making an attempt to get a vote?
Why not go into these neighborhoods and listen to the people today along with the neighborhood leaders — they are begging for much more law enforcement protection. They don’t have the luxurious of a gated community.
This is exactly the sort of behavior from our politicians that turns off the American general public from voting. What blatant hypocrisy.
Wiley’s actions are in immediate distinction to that of candidate Eric Adams. Thank God there are still level-headed, sensible people today working for office. Let us just hope he wins, and folks like her do not.
The most immediate path to seizing guns is, and usually has been, end-and-frisk. But that tactic will not be supported by the faint-hearted candidates for mayor.
Just the assumed offends the sensibilities of politicians who pander to maintain their jobs. They, of course, are not at threat. Candidate Wiley’s residential area is protected by a non-public security assistance.
End-and-frisk, denounced because of small yields, has merit due to the fact it saves life.
Two resources — the anti-crime units and cease-and -possibility, both equally aborted by this mayor — experienced a immediate negative impression on gun violence in our town. They ought to be reinstated.
How at ease and reassuring it will have to be to another person like Wiley that, after a tricky working day, she can return to her $2.7 million property, guarded by private security.
In the wake of the worst mayor in living memory, the election of a different progressive liberal agitator is accurately what the city does not need to have.
The election is a probability to present support for legislation and purchase and the police. In the end, voters get what they are entitled to.
Wiley has an asinine system of defunding the law enforcement, as she friends out of her lavish brownstone ivory tower with total security protection, while the neighborhoods encompassing her are rife with crime.
She’s just an additional social-justice warrior with overall disrespect and disregard for legislation and buy.
The myriad of buffoons managing for mayor is staggering.
